Kahlara weighs about 20lbs now! Yeah!!! She is starting to get up a wee bit earlier…although I know I am lucky with her getting up at 730am..would love to go back to 830am..but oh well!

She is starting to point to things that she wants and seems to understand more words we say. “No” being one of them. With the sun staying out, we get out of the house a lot so we don’t get too hot. If we need a real cool down we head to the mall…ahhhhh…air conditioning!

Her birthday party was great and thank you everyone who was able to make it and for the gifts she received! Mama went a bit crazy on how many people were invited but hey the 1st birthday only happens once, right? She is having a blast with all the toys she got and will soon be modeling the clothing.

Unfortunately, we had to go to the hospital recently with what we think was a viral infection. I guess it was the foot,mouth and hand viral infection that had been going around. Kahlara got her 1st blood test done..glad to have that done quickly. She was screaming and Gord and I were holding her down to keep her still. But she got through it! She had quite a high temperature for 4 days and then broke out in a rash all over. You could tell it took a toll on her..she was not the same person she usually is. But as the week went by, she started to feel much better and started laughing,dancing and running around the house again!

She is doing quite well now. She enjoys Mama reading books to her. That is her fave activity right now.

Time goes too quickly now..to think that I was in pain this time last year..glad that isn’t happening!

Kahlara is walking and running a lot now. She seems to enjoy playing with her food and making a masterpiece!
She has had a ear infection and had to take antibotics for it. It went along with her teething. She seems to get a cold whenever she teethes!
We got to go and meet up with Holly, Brady and Michela at Trout lake. She had so much fun while Mama and Holly got to chit chat! We will have to go there again some time soon!
Her birthday party is fast approaching and Mama has little time left.

So I will sign off here and write after the birthday party!

Well time is really, really flying by. I only have another couple of weeks before I am offically off my maternity leave. But Kahlara is making such quick progress and I am happy that I was able to see her first steps! That’s right!! She has done so much in the last month and a half! It is hard to believe that she was just learning to crawl and now to walk unassisted. She can stand on her own for a lot longer now and concentrate on what she is playing with. It really amazes me! We have a fun time playing and going for walks now that the sun is starting to come out more.

In this last month, Kahlara got to visit with her Grandma and Grandpa in Hope. What a fun time that was! She got to see her Uncle Brad, Aunt Michelle, cousin Ashton and Great Aunt Bev and Great Uncle Ron. She borrowed cousin Ashton’s walking toy and was not allowing Mama to sit down. She would walk up and down the hallway and look into each room to see if anyting was going on. Kahlara got to meet a couple new kids in Hope at a Mom and Tot group aunty Michelle was hosting.

Kahlara also got to meet for the first time Tante Alma, Lothar and Neddy. It was wonderful to see them.

We having been doing so much lately…sorry for the lateness of the posts….

The last time Kahlara was weighed she was 18lb 10oz and 32in long. She had been walking more and more, almost in running mode. She is eating mashed and whole foods while trying more new foods. Now that we are having better weather, we get out of the house even if it is to walk on the front grass before the hot sun gets us…

Mama is now back to work. Working part time at a scrapbooking company…1st month completed. It is much different then talking to cranky sick people all the time. So far so good.

Can’t believe her 1st bday is coming up so soon..

Kahlara is 9 months today! She weighs 16lbs 14oz.  She is doing some crawling, standing and some assisted walking (well a few steps anyway)! She mainly likes to pull herself up and stand listening to her music toy. We are having lots of fun in swimming class. We only have a couple more lessons left. She seems to like being on her front. We get to go into the deep end of the pool on our last class. That will be nice for Mama. My legs are getting quite a workout in the swallow end of the pool.

We went to Hope to celebrate cousin Kamylle’s birthday. We went swimming and then back to their house for lunch and cake!! Yummy! We got to see everyone there. We also got to see Grosspapi and Grossmami, cousins Ian and Evan, Uncle Greg, Aunt Agnes, and Auntie Jackie for the Easter long weekend. Got pictures of all three while we were there.

We have gone outside to play with the puppers (since the weather has been wonderful),and hmmm… how nice that they escaped on us!! One was found in our neighbors pond clinging to the rocks for dear life and the other decided to take on a huge dog! Crazy day that day..right Grossmami and Auntie Jackie!

Sorry everyone..been getting busy and sick the last couple of months!

Kahlara had her first cold. That was something to get through. It took her a bit of time to get used to breathing through her mouth but she got it! Woke up many times in the night so Mama was pretty sleepy and later got sick herself.I don’t know how but she was still quite energetic for being sick! All are healthy now for the moment. We had a scare last month with Grosspapi so Kahlara and I went to go visit him and Grossmami to help them feel better.

Kahlara also went to visit Grandma and Grandpa in Hope for 1 week. She got to see her cousins, and Aunt and Uncle. Hopefully we can go back and visit them again soon. We also got to see Great Grandma Surina. We went out to the mall for a walk around and had lunch together. It was wonderful to see her again!

Congrats to Cousin Dyanna and Aaron on their expected arrival! Due on August 21!! I know that Grandma B is over the moon with excitment!

Kahlara is getting closer and closer to crawling and pulling herself up. She can get onto all fours and rock back and forth for a short time. She can pull herself to her knees and is still trying to figure out getting to her feet! She is trying everyday! It is very exciting but in a way nail biting as well! I really won’t have any nails left! She weighs 15lbs 12oz and is 28.5 inches long! I was scrambling to find a new car seat for her as the seat she was in only fits up to 29 inches. I am happy to say that her new seat should fit her for a long while! We have just started to use it and so far so good!

She is also eating some puree veggies and fruit along with oat cereal. She is still not really into veggies but I am sure as time goes on, she will get use to it!

Wow! 6 months…

In this last month she has celebrated her 1st Christmas and New Years. We went through a power outage and lit lots of candles. Hydro was quick to get the power back. Tree fell on the lines. There has also been more snow, so we really haven’t been out much.

Kahlara has been eating more rice cereal and soon will be starting solids. She doesn’t mind going on her stomach and loves being in her exersaucer. Kahlara is getting better with balancing while sitting and will pull herself up into sitting if she falls forward. Getting those back and stomach muscles stong!

Went to the doctors to get her immunizations. She is now 14lbs 3oz and length 26.5 inches. This girl is really growing!

Well Christmas and New Years sure zoomed by..

Kahlara celebrated her first Christmas this year! She was spoiled rotten by family and Santa! It started on Christmas Eve. We went to Grossmami and Grosspapi’s. She got to open gifts with her cousins, Ian and Evan. On Christmas we went on to Hope to see Grandma and Grandpa. Kahlara saw cousins Keenan, Kamylle and Ashton. It was Ashton’s first Christmas too! Boxing Day we went to Aunty Lynn and Uncle John’s. Kahlara then got to see cousins Natasha and Ethan. There was a lot of people there that she had not met before, Uncle Mark, Sarah, Ryan, Craig, Evan and Uncle John.

Kahlara also got to meet Mark (aka Mjark) for the first time as he was back from England for the holidays!

New Years Eve we all just chilled out and rang in the New Year quietly. The rest of the holiday was spent relaxing as mama was sick with a cold!

I know I keep saying this but where does the time go! We will soon be going into a new year! Kahlara weighs 12lbs. 9 oz. This last month Kahlara went to Gord’s company Kids Christmas Party at Burnaby Village Museum. She got to sit on Father Christmas’ knee and pictures were taken. She received Laugh n Learn Bunny. The dogs are a little scared of it but she loves it!

We got our first snowfall. We dressed her up in some oversized winter gear and brought her out for a short time. We mainly watched the neighborhood kids making snowmen and having a snowball fight from the window. I still can’t believe the amount of snow we received!

Kahlara seems to be more and more busy as she gets older! We went out for a birthday lunch with Auntie Kathy. She got to see great grandma, grandma and more aunties and cousins. The next day she was at another birthday party for a neighbor . Happy 3rd Birthday Aaron!

Kahlara got to meet a new baby, Tyler Loop! Such a cutie! You can see updated pictures of him on our website.
Mama and Papa actually got to go out 2 days in a row! Wow! 2 Days!!! We went out to a movie and Grandma and Grandpa looked after her the 1st night. Kahlara was happy to see her Grandpa again. Grossmami, Grosspapi and Auntie Jackie looked after her the 2nd night while Mama and Papa were at Papa’s Office Christmas Party. She was so pooped out from the activities that she slept very well for the next couple of days.

Kahlara went to see Mama’s co-workers. We all went out for lunch to Red Robin. It had been quite some time since Mama had been back. Mama doesn’t miss the commute…and we didn’t go during rush hour! Kahlara also got to see Auntie Kathy again and the doctor that Mama did her work experience with, Dr Nairin Stewart.

Well, she started to sit on her own and started to eat rice cereal from a spoon! She has been eyeing our food for some time. She can hold her self up and balance for a little bit.

Well, I am glad this month is over!!! Too many sleepless nights. We believe that Kahlara was teething this last month. Mama was very sleep deprived! I love my daughter very much but the crying and waking up every 1-1.5 hours was very difficult. Thank goodness for the long weekend! Papa stayed up with Kahlara while Mama slept! And boy did I need it! I know that this is just the beginning. No teeth to show for it yet though.

Even though I was sleep deprived, we sure did a lot.  Kahlara went to visit Papa at work and met some of his co-workers. We attended a Halloween party at Sasha’s, where she got to meet her new baby cousin, Evan. He was only 3 days old! On Halloween, she answered the door in her pumpkin costume with Papa. Not a lot of tricker treaters this year but it was still fun!  Kahlara went to her first birthday party at Sasha’s. Happy 3rd Birthday Sasha!!!

Kahlara is now 11lb 9oz and 25 inches long. We went to see the doctor for the 4 month immunizations. Only 3 shots instead of 4. She handled it very well. The last one seemed to hurt the most. Mama and Papa got shots too! The doctor seemed happy with her progress. We found out that one of her pupils dilates more than the other. Interesting…apparently quite a few people have this.
She is starting to roll on her own (well when she wants too)! Starting to pinch and pull mamma’s hair..we will see what mama does about that!

Time seems to be going by so fast! Kahlara is growing like a weed. She is now 10lbs. It may seem small compared to some other babies her age but you can sure feel the weight when you carry her around for a length of time. This means that we are in a new diaper size!! No more newborn diapers.

Both Mama and Kahlara got surprised with a baby shower. There were so many gifts that Mama was not sure if she would be able to get all gifts into the car! Thank you all so very much! Kahlara has a way better wardrobe than her mama! Kahlara got to meet so many people and also got to meet a long time friend of Mama’s, Niki, from Bradshaw and Brookswood days.

Kahlara got to surprise Great Gramma Surina and celebrate her 83rd birthday on Oct 14th. She also got to meet new relatives from Switzerland, Stephan and Petra, while they were in town. We went and saw Grossmami and Grosspapi on Thanksgiving.

Kahlara is laughing an awful lot!  This is what makes the whole birthing process worth it! She is sleeping through the night with great relief for both Mama and Papa with about 8-10 hours. We will see how long that will last!
